Community: Exciting new voluntary adventures in charity and healthcare

Exciting to be getting back into the community after a few years rest since I resigned from Lydney Town Council in June 2020.

I’ve been elected unopposed as the Public Governor for the Forest of Dean on Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust’s Council of Governors.

I’m looking forward to playing a role in scrutinising the Trust that provides community hospitals and mental health services across Gloucestershire, representing members and working in particular to see how we can improve access to healthcare for LGBTQ+ people and Traveller communities, the latter having particularly concerning health outcomes compared to other ethnic and cultural groups.

I’ve also been successful in my application to join the Board of Trustees of Gloucestershire Nightstop, a leading charity in the county with a mission to prevent and end youth homelessness. This is a charity close to my heart. I’ve been homeless and I’ve used Nightstop and want to give something back to an organisation that is there for people in one of the most difficult times.

If anyone has any thoughts about community healthcare in the Forest of Dean or Gloucestershire more widely, or you have ideas about or want to get involved in preventing and ending youth homelessness, drop me a message or email contact@jacobbradfield.org. I’d love to hear what you have to say.
